Toby Wells Foundation hosts Bear, Book, and a Buck
What: Event-goers will bring a new teddy BEAR, a new BOOK appropriate for children in
grades K-5 and a $100 BILL, as they step aboard the sportfisher S’Wells, for an
enchanting evening under the stars while enjoying the San Diego Bay Parade of Lights..
All Bears and Books will be distributed to the less-fortunate children of Valley
Elementary. The funds raised will used to fund an animal humane education program,
which includes visits to classrooms from the “Ani-Mobile: The Traveling Classroom” by
the Helen Woodward Animal Center. The program will offer many children the
opportunity to learn about responsible pet ownership and enable them to benefit from the amazing bond possible between a child and an animal.
Why: The Toby Wells Foundation is a community partner committed to raising awareness and
resources for local schools and not-for-profit organizations who share their efforts in
securing a brighter future for youth, persons with disabilities and animals.
Who: Shortly after his 28th birthday, Toby Wells, a third generation San Diegan and avid
animal advocate, lost his life in a tragic accident in May of 2000. Wells’ family and closest friends came together to develop the Toby Wells Foundation in January of 2001. Today, The Toby Wells Foundation is focused on building a brighter future for youth, persons with disabilities and animals by providing financial and fundraising assistance to local non-profits. The Toby Wells Foundation has already begun to “Make a Difference” as the organization has helped in obtaining contributions exceeding three-hundred thousand dollars to worthy causes to date.
