The Toby Wells Foundation sponsors
Two rooms in the new Residential Training Facility for
Canine Companions for Independence
Oceanside, CA- The Toby Wells Foundation, which has made a sizable gift of $150,000 to Canine Companions for Independence, has a guest room and training room named to remember Toby Wells, an avid animal advocate, in CCI’s new Residential Training Facility. CCI will hold its official Grand Opening on July 28, where the rooms named for Toby Wells will be publicly dedicated.
Canine Companions for Independence is a non-profit organization that provides highly trained assistance dogs to people with disabilities other than blindness.
The Toby Wells Foundation strives to make a positive and meaningful impact on the lives of youth, persons with disabilities and animals by supporting non-profit organizations like Canine Companions for Independence, as well as others in the community. Through generous financial and volunteer assistance, they have made a difference to CCI and in the lives of children and adults with disabilities. The Toby Wells Foundation is committed to encouraging programs like CCI’s and others that provide a brighter future for people and animals.
The purpose of CCI’s Residential Training Facility is to enhance the experience of the participants during their two-week Team Training session that precedes graduation. The Toby Wells Foundation recognizes that this will open doors to a new group of individuals affected by CCI, those in need of financial assistance and peer support, as well as a Canine Companion.
All students who travel from the other 9 states in the Southwest region as well as farther points of California, have to provide two-weeks of lodging and transportation for
themselves. Though CCI does not charge for their dogs, the cost of attending Team Training, is the responsibility of the attendees.
Through the support of the Toby Wells Foundation, CCI will have more opportunities to change the lives of people who would otherwise not have the available finances to come to Oceanside, and thereby providing a Canine Companion at their side.
