Toby Wells Foundation Takes Active Step to Make a Difference in the Lives of Youth, Persons with Disabilities and Animals
Poway, CA May 7, 2001 -- The Toby Wells Foundation provided $50,000 in grants to a variety of charitable causes within San Diego so far this year.
Grants have been awarded to the following organizations:
- Helen Woodward Animal Center (Therapeutic Riding Program-Scholarships for mentally & physically disabled children) $15,000
- Helen Woodward Animal Center (Adoptions Assist Fund) $2,500
- A.B. and Jessie Polinsky Children’s Center (PCC) (Children’s Trust Fund & Wish List) $10,000
- Child Abuse Prevention Foundation (Sponsor of Toby Wells Foundation College Scholarship Fund for Foster Children) $10,000
- Sharp Memorial Rehabilitation Center (Sports Program(s) Sponsorship for Disabled-Quad Rugby and Power Soccer) $5,000
- Paralyzed Veterans Association (Diamond Sponsor of Tony Mezzadri Surf Competition for Disabled) $5,000
- Sport Fishing Council (Support for Day at the Docks programs enabling underprivileged children to take part in rewarding activities) $2,500
The Toby Wells Foundation was formed in January 2001 as a means to make a meaningful difference within San Diego in honor of Toby Wells. Wells, 28, a third generation San Diegan and avid animal advocate, passed away in May 2000. Wells’ family and closest friends came together to develop the Toby Wells Foundation.
Today, the Toby Wells Foundation is focused on building a brighter future for youth, persons with disabilities and animals by providing substantial financial and fundraising assistance. The Toby Wells Foundation has helped in obtaining contributions exceeding three-hundred thousand dollars to worthy organizations to date.
